Aside from his solo career, Celly Cel is in a group called The Hillside Stranglaz. You've heard them before, on several of Celly Cel's albums and compilations, as well as seen them on stage with him when he performs live. The Hillside Stranglaz consist of Celly Cel, Mac Reese (celly cel's brother), Da Enemy and Protege. The rapper's evolve very well, from being gangsta to just being well-rounded artist with a unique style......back to being gangsta again. Of course, lyrics do not carry a rap album by themselves and The Hillside Stranglaz definitely benefit from the album's pristine West Coast G-funk sound which help them break out of the generic gangsta trappings and come into their own.
